For National Fire Prevention Week, the Hillsboro Fire Department visited the elementary school to discuss fire safety.
This year's theme, "Charge Into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Habits," focuses on everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires. During their visit, local firefighters shared essential safety skills and guided students on a tour of their fire trucks.
In addition to teaching life-saving skills, these visits introduce students to the people behind the gear, building the trust that is essential should a crisis ever arise.
