A group of sophomores, juniors, and seniors attended American Players Theatre's performance of Romeo and Juliet on Wednesday, September 27.
This performance was unique in that it was bilingual-- two of the actors are deaf. As those actors, playing the roles of Romeo and Friar Laurence, signed their lines, other actors spoke. Similarly, the lines of speaking actors were also interpreted in sign language.
Students read the play Romeo and Juliet during their freshman year, so watching a live performance is a wonderful means to revisit the material and build comprehension. HHS students have the opportunity to attend a play every fall during APT's student matinee series, which is a fantastic way for students to see plays performed by a professional cast in a beautiful outdoor theater.
