ELA 7 and 8 students created found poetry in honor of Veterans Day.
Found poetry is a form of poetry created by using existing words and phrases that the author finds, and reframes, remakes, and rearranges in order to create an original work. Found poetry is often described as the literary equivalent of collage, and encourages writers to reestablish themselves as close readers with an eye for detail and theme.
Students from Mrs. Michalek’s class used magazines and cut out words and phrases that resonated with the themes of service, sacrifice, and a desire for peace.
