Barbara Stanek, formerly Barbara Thompson, graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1975. Today, Barbara is a successful small business owner, operating Three Sisters' Treasures in Kendall.
Barbara's life has been a testament to hard work and dedication. After graduating, she married her husband, Richard, and together they built a life on the farm. They raised four children and generously opened their home to other family members, providing a loving and supportive environment for over 15 children.
Barbara is also actively involved in her community, serving as a board member for the Cheyenne Settlers Heritage Society and currently leading the effort to raise funds for a round barn memorial.
Reflecting on her time at Hillsboro High School, Barbara emphasizes the value of the education she received. "Hillsboro provided many lifelong friendships and experiences," she shares. "In school, I was given an education that taught me time management, problem solving skills, and communication, which are essential for managing both family and farm life, while adapting to changing agricultural practices."
Barbara Stanek's dedication to family, community, and her entrepreneurial pursuits serves as an inspiration to all Hillsboro students, past and present.
