Thirteen Hillsboro High School Art Club students recently found inspiration beyond the classroom walls, participating in the annual "Student Art Experience" at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Joining artists from neighboring schools, Hillsboro students spent a day immersed in the creative process, guided by area artists. These artists, a blend of seasoned professionals and passionate hobbyists, shared their skills and insights, and presented students with a wide variety of offerings.
Students had the opportunity to participate in three separate sessions, work across a diverse range of mediums, and take home the work they created. Offered workshops included colored pencil, printmaking, watercolor, and alcohol ink. Students also learned how to create plastic creatures, draw landscapes, and practice 2D drawing.
This off-campus adventure provided our students with essential exposure to different artistic mediums, approaches, and aesthetics while allowing them to learn directly from professional artists in an inspiring environment.
The Hillsboro School District is thrilled to support these kinds of enriching experiences, and looks forward to seeing how the skills and inspiration gained at the Kickapoo Valley Reserve will translate into their future artistic endeavors.
